• Grown up elegance

    Hi everyone!

Last week my father in law turned 65 and there was a big party to celebrate that event. Of course most if not all hubby's aunts and uncles would attend so I decided to be a good girl and not wear some crazy, eye blinding (frown inducing) design but go for something more elegant. As it happened I recently fell in love with these nails by blackqueennailsdesign so I dug through my stash to find colors that would sort of match the ones Ana used and sat down for some play time. I couldn't be happier with the result!

I started by painting my thumb, index and pinky with two coats of a-england Sleeping Palace and a coat of Seche Vite. My middle and ring finger received just one coat of Ozotic 607 as I was going to do a gradient on those nails (and as Ozotic is no longer in production I treasure each and every drop of the polishes I have ;).

The three colors I used for the gradient are (light to dark): Ozotic 607, piCture pOlish Sisters and a-england Sleeping Palace. Sleeping Palace is a bit more gray than the darkest color Ana used so I actually tried a different purple first but I preferred the dustier look of plum colored Sleeping Palace so I chose that one.

I even managed to preserve some of the holo sparkles in the gradient as you can (or can not) see in the picture I've taken with flash light.

I finished my manicure by stamping an image from Born Pretty BP-L003 using my go to black stamping polish, Hit the Bottle As Black As Night (that has hardly any print left on the label and needs a firm shake before the bottle shot... that's how often I use it ;) and a coat of Seche Vite to make it all shiny and glossy.

These are the polishes I used. Don't they look pretty all lined up?

I got a lot of compliments during the party, although one of the aunts commented she felt it was a bit dark. Oh well, I guess I can't please everyone ;) I do hope I did Ana's gorgeous design some justice. What do you think?

Last but not least, if this manicure doesn't qualify for challenge #8 from the SBB Nail Challenge, I don't know what design will... so that's one more crossed off of my list and one step closer to finishing this challenge :)

Ozotic 607, piCture pOlish Sisters and a-england Sleeping Palace were bought from Pretty Polish.
Hit the Bottle As Black As Night was bought from Hypnotic Polish.

      1. Thanks Karen! I really didn't want to take it off when I had to start the next manicure, so I'm definitely going to use this combination of polishes again :)
