• #52weeknailchallenge - week 7: Valentine's Day

    Hi everyone!

At just about the latest possible moment I've managed to carve out a few moments for a quick post to show the manicure I did for the seventh prompt of the 52 Week Nail Art Challenge: Valentine's Day. I actually wore this manicure during the lovely dinner my husband treated me to but again, as usual since I started this new assignment at work, I haven't had the time to write a post. But since pictures are patient, these were waiting on my camera for me to crop them and show them off :)

As you can see no pinks for me but there are hearts and roses (well, one rose) and my Valentine really liked them which was good enough for me!

I started out by painting all my nails with two thin coats of Catrice 122 No EGGxit, a dirty pale peach that I hoped would be a bit less dirty than it turned out to be. To remedy the dirty part I painted one thin coat of Catrice 125 Got Candy? on my thumb, index and pinky, to end up with the pale peach you see in the picture.

For my middle and ring finger I started out with a smooshed base using No EGGxit, Got Candy? and some sparkles courtesy of Cirque Colors Himalayan Pink. As the sparkles didn't show up as much as I wanted I did some dry brushing with Himalayan Pink on top and smoothened everything out with a coat of Seche Vite.

Last but not least I stamped a swirly, heart filled pattern from Messy Mansion plate MM31 using Hit the Bottle Snowed In and I added a red rose from Messy Mansion plate MM72 using Colour Alike 05 Red Dragon. And of course all nails got some extra protection and gloss from the second coat of Seche Vite.

These are the polishes I used:

Valentine's Day over here is always a source of discussion. People who say it's purely commercial, people who say it's total rubbish, people who all but paint their house pink and decorate everything with hearts... Personally I like to surprise my husband with a little gift or a small note, but I do that on other days as well and so does he so we don't really need Valentine's Day for that. It does give one a nice excuse though, right? Just like that nine-years-seven-months-and-eleven-days anniversary that is coming up any day now ;)

About my nails, in real life I could see the differences in color in the base a lot better where the photograph sort of blends everything together. I can't take any better pictures though as I managed to snap off the entire free edge of my middle finger. It's so short at the moment my hyponychium (the small "ridge" of tissue at the underside where my free edge used to start) is visible above my nail (which is actually quite painful). I'm going to try and give the spotlight to my Cinderella hand for a while but should I disappear for a while, I'm probably pampering my left hand and willing my nail to grow faster... and I promise I'll be back and catch up on each and every prompt I may have missed!
