• Friday Triad: inspired by Cat's Claws

    Hi everyone,

it's the last Friday of the month so it's time for our Triad manicure again. This month Juanita picked a lovely manicure by Cat's Claws and she told us she hoped there wouldn't be too much anxiety over her choice. Of course I had to tease her a little (what colors? what finishes? what birds?) but to be honest last month life had decided to step on the accelerator so I was glad to sit down and have some nice, uncomplicated nail time. This is the result:

Yep, those are inspired by the original. You may wonder how I reached this point starting from the original, so let me give you a sneak peek in my brain (please ignore the clutter everywhere, I have some cleaning to do... some day ;) The things that stood out when looking at the picture were: shimmery blue, metallic silver, birds, stamping. Birds have feathers so that was a quick click and the final piece fell into place when I discovered a pretty pale blue, speckled polish amongst my blues: inspiration complete, commence painting :)

I started out by painting all my nails with Cirque Colors Acid Wash, a pale blue creme that is stuffed with small and slightly bigger blue and gray flakies. It was a bit streaky after the first coat but another one took care of that. After a coat of Seche Vite to help it all dry a bit faster, I stamped a feather on my middle and ring finger from B. Loves Plates B.08 Feather Fever using essie No Place Like Chrome (metallic silver) and after that using Colour Alike 24 Holy Night (shimmery blue). I finished everything with another coat of Seche Vite and that was all.

    The usual line up:
Cirque Colors Acid Wash, Colour Alike 24 Holy Night, essie No Place Like Chrome

I know it's a very simple manicure but I love the minimalistic look of it. Also, it reminded me that I don't always have to bend over backwards wrestling with complicated techniques to wear something beautiful on my nails (thanks Juanita for making me remember that :) I'm really curious to see what Michelle and Juanita were inspired to do. If you want to check out their nails, just click their name and you're off to their site.

P.S. I wonder if either of the other ladies did black and white unicorns for this one, you know, animals and two contrasting colors... it actually does tie in with the original ;)

Cirque Colors Acid Wash was bought from Pretty Polish.
Colour Alike B.a Holy Night was bought from Hypnotic Polish.
