A simple manicure today that looks like an italian ice cream with a few of my favorite flavors: vanilla, pistachio, banana and orange (pistachio and orange being the flavors you are allowed to wake me up for... along with blueberry... and now I want ice cream!!)

On my thumb, index and pinky you see two thin coats of OPI Damone Roberts 1968, a gorgeous pistachio green. I had my doubts about buying this one as it was quite expensive with shipping added, but my husband told me I would definitely regret not buying it if I didn't and who am I to contradict that kind of loving advice, right? He was absolutely right btw... I love it and it is totally unique among all the other greens I have.
On my middle and ring finger you see two coats of OPI Alpine Snow, followed by a coat of Seche Vite to help it dry. After that I put a few drops of OPI Is Mai Tai Crooked? (soft orange), OPI Banana Bandanna (pastel yellow) and Damone Roberts on a small glass dish. I poured some pure acetone in a glass dappen dish, grabbed a nail art brush, diluted the polish with some acetone until it was quite watery and very artistically painted it on parts of my nail (read: my cuticles were flooded with watery color, my skin got a bit as well and of course my desk was decorated... but all that was taken care of with more acetone). I brushed some acetone over the parts where I thought it had turned out too dark or too opaque and happily fiddled on until someone started pointing at his watch... yup, we had to go out. So I covered everything with a coat of Seche Vite and I was ready to leave.
Here's the usual line up:

What do you think? Should I stamp on them? And if so, any suggestions for color or image/pattern?
OPI Damone Roberts 1968 was bought from Damone Roberts.
I noticed they lowered the price since I bought it but they don't ship polish to Europe anymore :(
It looks very pretty - and I see the ice cream :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was a really bad girl today... about 500 m from where we live is an ice cream parlor and guess what we had for dessert? Yep, ice cream that matched my manicure :)
DeleteSo cool!! I've never tried anything like that, but it's really pretty. :D I think stamping could be fun. If it doesn't work out then you can always just do something totally different. ;) hehehe Don't you just love when they tell you to buy the polish? ^_^
ReplyDeleteYou should have seen me... I don't think my 1 yo nephew could have done a better job painting his surroundings. But it was a lot of fun and I'll definitely revisit this technique.
DeleteHehe, you bet I love it! He also picks out things that I would never try myself but without any exceptions (so far) I end up loving them on my nails :)
