my husband is over at his cousins place for a poker evening (with chips, not real money... that's for bills and nail polish ;) so what better way to spend some time but to do my nails. I could only do the ninth prompt of the Weekly Nail Art Challenge after Friday as neon isn't really appreciated much at work. Sure, I can pull it off during summer when there's a day without meetings with customers, but that was not the case last week so the neons I picked had to wait until the weekend. After kissing hubby goodbye and running back inside where it was warm instead of the polar temperatures we're having at the moment, I sat down and had some fun with an eye searing neon and its pastel sister. Combined with black and white this is the result:
I started out by painting my pinky with Cirque Colors Memento Mori, a one coat wonder pitch black creme that is also great for stamping. My ring finger was done with two thin coats of Cirque Colors Carpe Diem, a cool white creme. The remaining three nails were painted with one coat of Pretty Serious Peachie Poo, a pastel neon peach that is just perfect, both color and formula. I used a sponge to create a gradient using Peachie Poo and Cirque Colors Sin City, a blinding neon coral that I used at the tips of my nails.
For my accent nail I picked up a floral image from MoYou Trend Hunter 02 and used a tiny detail brush to color in the flowers on my stamp with Sin City and the buds with Peachie Poo, after which I gently pressed the colored in stamp on my ring finger. Last but not least after waiting for everything to dry I painted a generous coat of Seche Vite on all nails and that was it.
These are the polishes I used:

I wasn't looking forward to doing a neon manicure in the midst of winter. It just didn't feel right. But I have to admit it's so cheerful I can't help but smile when I look at my nails and wish for summer to arrive, or at least spring! I hope you like my nails too :)
Cirque Colors Memento Mori, Carpe Diem and Sin City were bought from Pretty Polish.
Pretty Serious Peachie Poo was bought from Hypnotic Polish.
!!!! Omg !!!! Cindy is doing great and can you just stop with these awesome mani's.
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely eye searing neon and I love it.
Hehe, thanks! I was actually doubting whether I should post this or not... neon definitely isn't my thing in winter ;)
DeleteThe floral pattern looks fantastic in this combination and I love how the gradient came out! The transition looks so neat and pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Andrea! I used to avoid gradients as I thought they were very hard but I love doing them now that I've found they're not that scary :)
