What's on my nails today?

the last two weeks have been weird, to say the least. First the training that was pretty exhausting (I guess I'm not used to being taught in a class anymore) and after that... I kind of tumbled into a pool of nothing. Last week was the fourth anniversary of my fathers death and for some reason this year was harder for me than the previous years. I didn't feel like doing anything, just hang on the couch, watch some tv and feel sad...

Yesterday we were invited to the retirement party of a family friend so I had to dress up (a bit) and as she always notices my manicure I felt I couldn't get away with just a nice polish. Lacking any kind of inspiration, I took a look at the manicures I pinned in the past and the UberChic Floral skittlette by Marta of Chit Chat Nails caught my eye and I finally felt that familiar itch to paint my nails again :)

I actually wore this manicure for St. Patrick's day. I intended to do some nail art on it, but real life (in this case a week long training at work) interfered so my nails were 'just' beautiful green for almost a week. I could say I was doing a wear test, but I would have had to take more pictures which I didn't so that excuse doesn't work ;)

Anyway, in the picture my nails are painted in three thin coats of a gorgeous green holographic polish called Peridot by Lacquer Lust.

Wow, real life took me for a serious spin last week!! I got a new week long assignment on the other side of the country (which is tiny compared to the US, but it's still a 5 hour trip, one way). It was fun but I had no time to do anything but eat, sleep, travel and work so I ended up wearing my last manicure for the entire week (with several touch ups of course). As much as I love Merlin, it's now been placed in a drawer for at least a month and I don't want to see any mauve or glitter for the next week ;)

Anyway, after catching up on all the chores that were neglected again, I finally managed to sit down, clean my nails and paint on some new polish.

Yep, another post today. Last week I had no time to do anything but study, study and study some more, but it paid off. I took my exam yesterday and I passed with flying colors!!! So this weekend it's time to catch up on the chores I neglected, do some cleaning around the house, put away all the polishes that are scattered everywhere and finish the posts of the manicures I had on. The first one is online already and this is the manicure that is on my nails right now.

It probably isn't a big surprise my favorite type of manicure is a skittlette. I love to have my nails look different but somehow matching at the same time. The queen of skittlettes is of course Marta from Chit Chat Nails. Ever since I've found her blog, I have been saving manicures that I would love to recreate and this is one for them, her chevron skittlette. I just love the combination of colors and the chevrons so I browsed my stash for similar polishes as I don't have any of the ones Marta used. I hope I did her manicure some justice :)

Hi everyone!


Last week, between blowing my nose, steaming over a bowl of hot water with menthol stuff in it (my mom swears by that remedy and who am I to contradict her) and sleeping, I received a small package with two gorgeous polishes in it and I just had to get up and polish my nails. I mean, just look at the picture... how can anyone just NOT put that on immediately after it arrived? (just don't look too closely at the sorry state of my cuticles... they were sick too ;)

When I was out shopping yesterday, I spotted a new Catrice display in the drug store... yep, the new Nude Purism collection had arrived and it looked gorgeous! Apparently other customers had the same idea as the display was already half empty so I didn't think twice and all polishes came with me :)
