• Midnight blue gradient manicure

    Hi everyone!

After seeing this post on La paillette frondeuse I just knew I had to recreate that gradient one day... It's so beautiful! I never imagined beige, teal and midnight blue would go together this great but they do and here's my recreation:

    indoors, no flash

The polishes I used for my manicure are all from the #hashtag collection by Il était un vernis, that was released in December 2015 (and is still available from their store... oh, and they offer international shipping too, hint hint ;)

On my thumb, index and pinky you see one (ONE!!) coat of #ladykiller, a blackened blue polish with a gorgeous scattered holo and a great formula that self levels like a champ.

My middle and ring finger were painted in one thin coat of #imanatural, a lovely neutral beige with a subtle scattered holo and the same great formula as #ladykiller. I didn't need full opacity as I already planned to do a gradient but I think just one extra coat would have made it completely opaque. After that had dried, I did a gradient with (cuticle to tip) #imanatural, #monsieurjetaime and #ladykiller. #monsieurjetaime is a beautiful teal scattered holo that I expect to be opaque in 1-2 coats but I've only used it for the gradient so I can't tell for sure.

    indoors, flash
Anyway, after the gradient had dried I stamped it with an image from UberChic plate 2-01 that looked a little like the one used on La paillette frondeuse (as I don't have the plate she used) and Hit The Bottle Snowed In. A coat of Seche Vite to seal it all in and voila, stellar nails :)

    The contributors to my manicure:
Il était un vernis #ladykiller, Il était un vernis #monsieurjetaime, Il était un vernis #imanatural, Hit The Bottle Snowed In

I'm so happy with my nails! I can't stop looking at them and even though the gradient took away some of the holo sparkle, it looks SO nice. Weird though, every time I've done a gradient I tell myself to do it more often as it isn't that hard or time consuming and it looks great, but when I'm painting my nails I hardly ever remember to do a gradient... sometimes I wonder how the little wheels inside my skull work ;)

What do you think? Did I do the original a little justice? Do you have tips on how to preserve more of the holo goodness when doing a gradient with holographic polishes?

Il était un vernis #ladykiller, #monsieurjetaime and #imanatural were bought from Il était un vernis.
Hit the Bottle Snowed In was bought from Hypnotic Polish.
UberChic 2-01 was bought from UberChic Beauty.
