• Hi everyone!

Yesterday was a difficult day for my family as we had to say our last goodbye to my aunt Jo. She always made sure to take very good care of  herself and I can't remember a time when her nails weren't polished or when her makeup wasn't put on perfectly. She also was very fond of roses. So I decided to create a special nail art in her honor, featuring rose gold and roses.

  • Hi everyone,

quick post of a manicure that I had so much fun with while creating it that it deserves a way longer post but unfortunately I have to start studying for my exam next week.

My inspiration for the letter L in the ABC-Challenge is larimar, a rare semi-precious stone that varies in color from light blue to green blue to dark blue (click here for some pictures).

I used a combination of a gradient and the water spotted technique and this is what my nails look like:

Last Monday marked the start of one of the busiest weeks at work. Not only did I have to do my normal tasks but I got new responsibilities as well (yeah, more meetings... so not a fan of those!!) and on top of all that a two day mandatory training, so I figured it would be a week of wearing the same manicure... but nope, I wore something different every day! Of course I cheated a little ;) Let me show you what I did in this rather picture heavy post (please click the small pictures to enlarge them).

This is what I started with:

I would have loved another lazy weekend but that was not meant to be this time so I actually stayed up until way after midnight to finish my manicure for the letter K and unfortunately I think it shows I was pretty tired by then. I'll leave it up to you if this should be considered a fail or not ;)

  • Hi everyone!

Today was a lovely lazy Sunday. Hubby was playing some computer games and I had absolutely nothing to do but play with colors... and so I did :) I had to come up with a manicure for the letter J so I decided to do a classic technique that I'd never tried before: a jelly sandwich. About an hour later I had a pile of dirty cotton pads, about half an inch less nail polish remover, and the knowledge that I absolutely can't stand VNL (Visible Nail Line, when you see the white tips of your nail through all the coats of polish you put on) on my nails... so I tried to think of something else that didn't involve jelly polishes. Of course by then any kind of inspiration had disappeared so I was just sitting there, googling for words that started with a J that I could turn into a manicure. Cue hubby who innocently asked me why I didn't use an opaque base color first... I swear, that man has flashes of genius even Albert Einstein would be jealous of :D

I didn't feel like layering a bajillion coats of alternating jelly and stamps on my nails again so I decided to try something else: a watercolor like manicure with jellies (as I still had to do something with a J ;) and this is what I created:

  • Hi everyone!

When trying to find inspiration for the manicure I wanted to make for the letter I, I kept ending up with ivory. If you've seen more posts on my blog you might have noticed I use ivory, white and pale nude as a base quite often so I tried to think of different words with an I and of course my happy helper (aka husband) thought along with me: irrational, irritating, infuriating (could actually have done that... blobbicure comes to mind now that I'm typing this ;), idyllic, icey, immature... and the list of I words he produced went on and on but I won't bore you with that. Finally I decided to just skip the I for the moment and do something fun and summer-y, so I picked a yellow and an orange polish and then inspiration struck like a meteor! Next to the orange was a bottle that shouldn't have been there at all: Zoya Chloe, a polish from way back when flakies were not multichrome and opaque in two coats but sheer and... (wait for it)... IRIDESCENT (trumpets start to blare).

So I started out with the two polishes I picked, the stray one next to it and an assortment of tools and this is what my hard work looks like:
