• Black roses skittlette

    Hi everyone!

First of all the most important news of the day: I PASSED MY EXAM!!!

I took the exam this morning, all pale and shaking and basically a nervous wreck and when I was finished I had to wait for another "approximately 30 minutes" (quote) to get the results (standard procedure for these exams but I still call it torture ;) After no less than 45 minutes I finally received the link to my results so while my husband (who thought it would be less hazardous to myself and my surroundings if he'd drive me to the exam center and back) was parking the car, I saw the page load... and load... and after what must have been the longest 15 seconds in history I saw PASS!!!! After that of course lots of tears, laughter, hugging, shaking, jumping up and down and basically going completely nuts because all those emotions occurred at the same time :D

What does this have to do with nails, you ask? Actually, quite a lot. Yesterday, when I had scheduled the exam, I was getting extremely nervous up to the point where I was ready to pick a fight with my husband about something I can't even remember now. And what do I do when I really need to relax? I paint my nails! By focusing on those ten little canvases I'm able to calm down enough for me to realize I'm acting really stupid (unless of course I'm right, in that case I just calm down enough to sound like a mature person telling the incorrect party who is right ;) So here's the result of my attempt to relax:

    indoors, no flash

On my thumb and index you see two thin coats of OPI Lady in Black (aka Black Onyx for you guys across the ocean). I remember receiving it from my mother and thinking I would never wear black polish... and by now the bottle is getting close to half empty (I had to shake it before taking the bottle shot). Do I have to tell you what a great, self leveling finish it has? Or how I love the brush? Or the insane shine? Probably not, but I did anyway ;)

My middle and ring finger are painted in three thin coats of ILNP Long Walks, a taupe polish that is infused with tiny coppery flakes and a hint of holographic sparkle. If it were a woman, she would be a beautiful, elegant, 40-ish lady walking down the Avenue des Champs-Élysées on a nice spring evening while the sun is setting behind the Arc de Triomphe... <insert French accent> ah, Paris <end French accent> Of course a lady like that wouldn't be wearing jeans and a plain white shirt while strolling through Paris so I added some floral decorations to her dress by stamping lovely roses with my favorite black stamping polish, Hit The Bottle As Black As Night and B. Loves Plates plate B.02 Flower Power, and sealed it with a coat of Seche Vite.

I took a picture with flash to try and show the coppery flakes a bit more. Not sure if I succeeded but you don't mind seeing another picture, right? :)

    indoors, flash
Last but not least I added a sparkly accent on my pinky with two coats of Zoya Dahlia, one of the first PixieDust polishes so it has that fine texture that I keep touching just because it feels so nice, no top coat here of course.

Here's the bottle shot I mentioned:
OPI Lady in Black, ILNP Long Walks, Zoya Dahlia, Hit The Bottle As Black As Night
I've been using neutrals a lot recently so I wanted to NOT do a neutral manicure this time. Of course my eye happened to fall on a gorgeous neutral polish but I think I managed to turn it into a skittlette with a little edge. I like it a lot! What do you think?

Zoya Dahlia was bought from Pretty Polish.
B.02 Flower Power was bought from B. Loves Plates.
ILNP Long Walks and Hit The Bottle As Black As Night were bought from Hypnotic Polish.

      1. Thanks Juanita! I guess it's no secret I absolutely love skittlettes (even if it leaves my desk completely cluttered with polishes after I'm done picking the colors :)

I think I've got all the PixieDusts and I treasure each and every one of them. I only wish Zoya had done more colors in the original texture...

      1. Thanks Ithi! Painting my nails sure beats my previous remedy: watching comedies (Sister Act 1 and 2 got me through my drivers test) and devouring chocolate and tea ;)
