• Kaleidoscope in purple

    Hi everyone!

I would have loved another lazy weekend but that was not meant to be this time so I actually stayed up until way after midnight to finish my manicure for the letter K and unfortunately I think it shows I was pretty tired by then. I'll leave it up to you if this should be considered a fail or not ;)

I chose Kaleidoscope as theme for this week's ABC-Challenge. I briefly considered Kisses but I've done that recently and didn't feel like a reprise, so Kaleidoscope it was. It would have been a breeze if only I had owned a MoYou Kaleidoscope stamping plate but I don't so I searched through all the plates I have to finally end up with Emily de Molly EdM09. I actually made a quick draft of how to color in the image I chose:

To make the decals I first painted little rectangles of normal top coat on a silicon mat and stamped the kaleidoscope image from EdM09 using Hit The Bottle As Black As Night. I used Il était un vernis Born To Be Rad (medium purple), a-england Polovetsian Dances (dark purple) and Color Club Date With Destiny (light purple) to color in the stamps. When that had dried I painted a thin coat of Date With Destiny over the entire image so any bubbles that might happen when applying the decal would be hidden.

While waiting for the decals to dry I painted all my nails with one thin coat of Date With Destiny and when they were sufficiently dry I carefully peeled each decal from the mat, cut it roughly to size, placed it on my nail and removed the excess with a brush and acetone. A coat of Seche Vite on all my nails to help them dry and I was finally ready to put away the bottles, clean up the mess I made on my desk and go to bed.

These were the bottles I put away:
Hit The Bottle As Black As Night, Color Club Date With Destiny, Il était un vernis Born To Be Rad,
    a-england Polovetsian Dances

I didn't notice it at the time but I didn't do a very good job at staying inside the lines. Must be my drowsy eyes or the image was just too detailed (yep, I think I'll go with that one... the image was too detailed, it had nothing to do with my lousy planning ;) Also, Born To Be Rad and Polovetsian Dances looked different enough in the bottle but I think they are a bit too close after all. I should have picked a lighter purple to make the design stand out more (note to self: try out how colors work together before doing an entire manicure with them!!). So what do you think? Yay or nay? Either way, the holo sparkle hides a lot so I just have to make sure light hits my nails ;)

These are the other K themed designs:

Hit The Bottle As Black As Night was bought from Hypnotic Polish.
Color Club Date With Destiny was bought from Pretty Polish.
Il était un vernis Born To Be Rad and a-england Polovetsian Dances were bought from The Nailista Shop.

      1. Thanks! I guess looking at your nails in super zoomed in view makes you notice each and every flaw ;)
Good for you! And remember, you can actually get the stuff in Holland as well, it's just a bit more expensive...
