yesterday my husband decided he wanted to go out... and of course he only informed me at the latest possible moment! I had just removed my manicure after breaking my thumbnail (yep, again... so only four digit pictures until it has grown back) so I wasn't too pleased with his timing. Fortunately someone invented quick dry top coat so after 5 minutes of changing into a clean pair of jeans and a top (yep, did that before painting my nails... I can be smart sometimes ;) and 10 minutes of nail decorating I was ready to go, wearing these nails:
I used two thin coats of Cirque Colors Memento Mori on my pinky, two slightly thicker coats of Cirque Colors Carpe Diem on my ring finger and two thin coats of gorgeous almost neon pink holo Il était un vernis Under The Pink on my thumb, index and middle finger. A coat of Seche Vite helped it dry a lot faster and when I finished the last finger on my right hand (you know, the one you almost never see but that does all the hard work to make lefty shine ;) I could stamp a floral image from UberChic plate 3-01 using Memento Mori on my index and middle finger. I finished by placing three dots on my ring finger in Under the Pink and Memento Mori followed by another coat of Seche Vite. And that was it, my nails were ready for a night on the town :)
The polishes I used:

A quick trip back to summer colors this time, but the vampy and dusty colors are beckoning me so there's no telling how long before the bright polishes are put at the back of their storage and the fall colors take center stage ;) For now I'm going to enjoy these happy nails though. I hope you like them too.
Also, I fiddled a bit with the layout of the blog. I added reaction buttons so people can anonymously tell me what they think of my nails. I'm not quite happy with them as they are, so I'll be fiddling some more. I'm not sure if I can change much but I'll figure it out sooner or later :)
Cirque Colors Carpe Diem and Memento Mori were bought from Pretty Polish.
Il était un vernis Under The Pink was bought from the creators.
Uhm I don't believe 10 mins... surely it took a little longer? But this is a very impressive mani for on the go. I would never be able to pull something like this off.
ReplyDeleteNope, it really was 10 minutes. Of course the trick is in using (nearly) one coaters in thin coats so they dry very fast. I started at my left pinky and worked my way past all fingers (skipped the broken thumb) to my right thumb, and when that was done the polish on my left pinky was dry enough for the second coat etc. Seche Vite on the pink nails that I wanted to stamp on, and the other nails after that, careful check if the pink nails were dry enough and when they were I stamped flowers on them (no need to look at placement as it was a full nail image). Next the dots, paint Seche Vite on the stamped images and after a careful check of the dots Seche Vite on those as well... and done! :)
DeleteI use two bottles of Seche Vite at the same time. One is still very liquid so it's great for helping polish dry in the middle of a manicure and the other is thicker which makes it perfect for the last coat that smoothens everything that may be bumpy or gritty. Usually when I'm halfway through the "liquid bottle" it has thickened enough to replace the "thick bottle" that is just about empty by then so I add some Seche Restore and fill it with liquid top coat from the large refill bottle I have. And if the "liquid bottle" has been used a lot while the "thick bottle" is still quite full I just add some Restore to the (not so) liquid one to thin it a bit.
I'll stop lecturing now ;)
Good lawd woman... :D Again that is very impressive. I always have some minor clean up and that alone takes like 10 mins.
DeleteAlso THIS is a great idea for Seche! My bottle also goes a little thick half way through, so using that to smooth is very clever. I'm running low on Restore and I don't know where to find again...
Agreed, I couldn't do something like this within that time frame! What do guys always announce these things at the last minute, haha. Good job you could speed paint though, these nails wouldn't give away how little time you had. Beautiful as always :)
ReplyDeleteHehe, I swear it has to be genetic... must have something to do with Y chromosome, all the things that make women smart are probably on the extra leg that makes our Y an X ;)
DeleteI don't really like to hurry that much but with the right polish and the right stamp I can do a decent job if I really have to :)
