• Friday Triad: inspired by @didoline

    Hi everyone,

it's official now, I'm a certified nutcase. It's past midnight on Friday January 26th and I've just finished photographing the manicure I did in the last hour. You could say I should plan ahead better (or just plan ahead) but this time I was completely innocent! What should have been a nice, relaxed week with plenty of time to play with polishes has turned into a string of work related crises and working overtime three nights in a row. Of course that's nice for my polish budget but the bags under my eyes are proof that sleep might be a good thing once in a while ;)

But you're not here to hear me complain about my job (that I love btw.), you want to see nails... so here is what my fuzzy brain and bleary eyes managed to create from this inspiration by Dorra aka didoline:

I started with the decals. As usual I painted a square of clear polish on my silicone mat and when that had dried I stamped chevrons from B. loves plates B.01 geometry is perfect using Hit the Bottle Snowed In. I had planned to use vinyls for this one, but since I'm sporting shorties (again...) and my vinyls aren't very narrow I switched to stamping and this one is the narrowest chevron I own.

While the stamped image dried I painted my thumb and index with one coat (yes, ladies and gentlemen, we have a one coat wonder!!!) of Il était un vernis #monsieurjetaime, an absolutely stunning green leaning teal polish with a velvety scattered holo.

I tried to color between the lines using the same colors and a teeny tiny brush and again left the decal-to-be to dry while I painted my pinky with three thin coats of Il était un vernis Spring In My Step, a pretty grayed-out sage green with surprising pink shimmer between the holo sparkles, and both my middle and ring finger with a coat of OPI Alpine Snow.

To finish my manicure I peeled off the finished decal, cut it roughly to the right size and stuck on the tacky Alpine Snow... only to discover I forgot to put liquid latex around my cuticle so I spent the next 15 minutes dissolving the excess of the decal and cleaning up my skin. Instead of adding another decal to my middle finger I decided to leave it white, so I added two additional coats of Alpine Snow for full opacity. Last but not least a generous coat of Seche Vite and I was done (well... almost, as I had to take pictures, crop them, add a watermark, write this post and schedule it so it'll be online when Michelle and Juanita post their manicures ;)

I even remembered to take a picture of the polishes I used:
Il était un vernis #monsieurjetaime, Il était un vernis Spring In My Step, OPI Alpine Snow, Hit the Bottle Snowed In

I really like the way my nails look, especially with the colors of the decal each on a full nail as well. Now all I have to do is figure out what I'm going to do with the remaining decals as I did four of them... anyone interested? ;)

Something you should definitely be interested in is what Michelle and Juanita created. Just click their names and all will be revealed!

Il était un vernis #monsieurjetaime was bought directly from the creators.
Il était un vernis Spring In My Step was bought from The Nailista Shop (now closed).
Hit the Bottle Snowed In was bought from Hypnotic Polish.

Oh no I am sorry to hear you are so over pushed at the moment, do make sure you get enough rest, painting should alway be fun (I actually just quit a manicure after working on it for four hours, haha) Your late night painting totally paid off though, yet another flawless and gorgeous manicure! 1. Thanks hun! It's all part of the job, I guess. It's either running and scrambling to keep up or play Solitaire all day while waiting for something to do (the running, scrambling part occurs more often though). Oh well, it pays for new beauties, right? (and some other thingies like food and housing ;)
