• My first drip marble

    Hi everyone!

A day later than usual but I couldn't wait until another Friday to show this off... a new post about a new to me technique! I have seen many pictures of beautiful drip marbles so when my husband finished a tub of cottage cheese, I immediately snagged the plastic lid to finally try it myself. I have to say I'm pretty excited about the results :)

The hardest part was picking a nice combination of colors. I had already learned from looking at other drip marbles it would be best to have some contrast, so I had to have at least a light and a dark color. After some going back and forth I settled on white Catrice ICONails 15 Milky Bay, blue OPI The I's Have It, rose gold Cirque Colors Morganite and deep red Cirque Colors Garnet.

And then the fun really started (and yes, it was fun!). I put small blobs of polish on the thoroughly cleaned lid. I started with the blue, then white, followed by rose gold, red and some more white until I had a nice puddle of polish. I picked up the lid and tilted it this way and that, and slowly but surely the marble effect started showing as the colors slid over and next to each other. When I was happy with the design, I put the lid down and left the decal to dry for several hours.

When I could peel off the decal from the lid without damaging it, I painted a layer of base coat on my ring finger, placed the decal on top and made sure to press it down firmly to make sure no bubbles were underneath.

After that, all I did was paint my thumb and index with Milky Bay, my middle finger with The I's Have It and my pinky with Garnet and a coat of Seche Vite on top of all nails to seal everything and bring back the sparkle in Morganite and Garnet.

    The stars:
Cirque Colors Garnet, Cirque Colors Morganite, Catrice ICOnails 15 Milky Bay, OPI The I's Have It

Love... love love love! I absolutely love the technique, the outcome, everything about this manicure and I keep looking for spots with sunshine so I can wiggle my fingers in direct light and see the sparks fly. I hope you like this kind of manicure too because I definitely will do more of them ❤️

      1. I'm pretty sure you're going to love doing it yourself. The only small hurdle was prying the decal off the lid which was a bit too firm so I'm going to keep looking for a lid that isn't so stiff :)
