• Summer watercolor

    Hi everyone!

I guess the title says it all, even though the water is actually acetone 😉 I had so much fun doing this and it's just about the easiest thing ever. Let me show you what I did:

I started out with a white base on all nails, three coats of OPI Alpine Snow and two coats of Seche Vite to protect it from what I had planned next.

I picked three creme polishes that I thought looked pretty together, blue Zoya Dory, pink Zoya Kitridge and purple Zoya Malia. I also grabbed a small plate and a dappen dish, both made of glass so I can easily clean them after use.

Creating the watercolor was easy: I poured some acetone in the dappen dish, put a drop of Dory on the plate, used a small brush to dilute the polish with some acetone, and painted random parts of my nails with the "watered down" polish. I did the same with Kitridge and Malia and went back in with each color and more acetone until I got a result I liked.

I finished the accent nails by stamping a Moroccan-like tile shape from UberChic Moroccan Beauty on my nails using white Painted Polish Blanc Slate, and of course I covered everything with another coat of Seche Vite.

    The polishes I used:
OPI Alpine Snow, Zoya Dory, Zoya Kitridge, Zoya Malia, Painted Polish Blanc Slate

As you can see from the bottle shot, the bright colors were toned down a bit by the acetone but that's just the effect I was going for, and I absolutely love the end result. It's happy, summer-y and to be honest, I don't think I want to take these off for quite some time. On the other hand, I'm already thinking about what colors I could combine next time as I definitely want to do more of these so maybe their life won't be that long... 😉 Have you tried this technique before?

    1. Alpine Snow is always my go to white! Nice nails :-D

      1. Thanks Ananka! I'm on my fourth or maybe fifth bottle... so I think I feel the exact same way about Alpine Snow 😊

    2. Very pretty! I want to try this technique one of these weeks. :)

      1. It honestly is the easiest ever. You simply can't go wrong, just add more acetone 😉

Please let me know what you think. I may not reply right away but I will get back to you in the end... promised!
