• Sparkly Greenery for New Year

    Happy New Year everyone!

Pantone's color for 2017 is Greenery, a happy yellow-green shade that "evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew". I found a sparkly holo that comes pretty close (or at least I think so ;) and this is what I did with it:

    indoors, no flash

The pretty green on my thumb, index and pinky is ILNP 1UP, a yellow-green ultra holo that has a jelly base and is stuffed with tiny and slightly larger holographic bits. Combined it gives you a very intense rainbow that is visible in any kind of light, even without any direct light whatsoever... but look at what happens when direct light hits it. Even with my crappy photographing skills you are just about blinded by the sparkles ;)

Anyway, I used three thin coats for my thumb, index and pinky (and from the pictures I can tell my thumb could have used another coat but the sparkles hide anything bald in real life). After that I painted my middle finger and ring finger with a thin coat of OPI Alpine Snow and created a gradient using Alpine Snow and 1Up. Last but not least I stamped an image from MoYou London Pro 06 on the gradient using Hit the Bottle As Black As Night, painted a coat of Seche Vite on all my nails and done!

The polishes I used, all nicely lined up for their mugshot:

I haven't really made any resolutions for 2017, except maybe to try and cut myself some more slack, try to accept that sometimes good really IS good enough and things don't have to be perfect all the time. We'll see what happens with that in about 364 days... Also I'm very much looking forward to the posts I'll be doing with Juanita and Michelle the last Friday of each month where we'll attempt to do a manicure that is inspired by a design picked by one of us. Juanita chose the first one and I've been thinking about what to do with it since she mailed the picture.

Have you made any resolutions? And are you looking forward to what is to come? Or are you still trying to catch up with the whirlwind that was 2016 and not yet ready for 2017 to start?

ILNP 1Up and Hit the Bottle As Black As Night were bought from Hypnotic Polish.

    1. Beautiful! I always love to take note of the color of the year and try to do something with it. I've been looking forward to doing a Pantone mani this January to celebrate it also! Glad to see that it has come out and looking forward to playing with it. :)

    2. Happy New Year, Joyce! This is a stunning mani to start the new year. I like that you used the color of the year for the first post of the year. Very fitting! I'm trying to come up with what I want to do with the color of the year but I'm not having any luck!

I'm pretty sure there will be more greens on my blog this year and after that. I can never resist a good green (or blue, or purple, or... oh, who am I kidding, I can never resist any good polish ;)
