  • Hi everyone!

It's time for Vinyls this week... and I'm not a particularly big fan of those. Or rather, for some reason I've never managed to use them properly so I prefer just about any other technique to using vinyls. But as time went by, some found their way into my stash and so I pulled out a really nice design to create this manicure:

After I had done the green French tips from the previous post, I tried another approach. I love the colors, I love the image I stamped, I just don't love Frenchies 😉 But since I'm not just showing off the nails I like, here's the second take on French tips:

  • Hi everyone!

I had a birthday to go for, I wanted to wear something red and sparkly and I didn't have much time. This is what I ran out of the door with:

Another week, another prompt for the 52 week nail art challenge. This week it's time for Music. If you know me personally, you know I almost always have some sort of music playing. Before my alarm clock goes off I can already hear my favorite radio station, and one of the things I enjoy most when I'm at home is hearing the same music coming out of the wireless speakers that are in each room in the house and that my tech wizard hubby set up so they all play in sync, no matter what I put on, and I'm always surrounded with the music I selected. So you would think this week's prompt would be easy as pie, right? Wrong! I couldn't focus on a single idea and in the end I didn't have any inspiration at all. So I finally opted for the simple solution: pretty colors and a stamped image that fit the theme. This is the result:

The current theme for the 52 week nail art challenge is Weather. Anyone who has been in the Netherlands knows discussing or rather complaning about the weather is a national Dutch pass time. It's either too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too windy... or just not what was predicted! 😉

I decided to go with the kind of weather I used to whine about most when I had to ride my bike to school: rain! I have to admit I still don't care much for rain if I have to be outside but I love the way the world smells after a good shower, so I guess I'll just have to get myself a good umbrella if I have to go out. Here's my rainy manicure:

  • Hi everyone!

A day later than usual but I couldn't wait until another Friday to show this off... a new post about a new to me technique! I have seen many pictures of beautiful drip marbles so when my husband finished a tub of cottage cheese, I immediately snagged the plastic lid to finally try it myself. I have to say I'm pretty excited about the results :)

  • Hi everyone!

It's time for the sixth manicure in the ongoing My Polish, Your Plate series. It was my turn to pick a polish and I went for brick red OPI I Love You Just Be-Cusco (ILYJBC). Michelle picked the image on the right side of Pueen stamping plate 104. And this is the result of me combining the two:

The tenth installment of the 52 week nail art challenge 2020 is Beach. I grew up close to the North Sea and when I was a kid, we visited the beach quite often (it was only a 10-minute bike ride). The water wasn't turquoise but a murky greenish, grayish blue, and the sand wasn't pearly white but... well, sandy. That's the picture that pops into my mind when I think of the beach so that's what I tried to create on my nails, a wintery North Sea beach:

The sixth week of the 52 week nail art challenge is... hearts! (of course it had to be something related to Valentine ;)
I decided to fully immerse myself into the upcoming holiday and picked all reds and pinks to do my manicure with. This is the result:

  • Hi everyone!

The last Friday of the month, and actually the last Friday of 2019! Wow, this year has been an out-of-control roller coaster with major lows (my kitchen nightmare 😱) and huge highs (my dream kitchen 😍), and with way too little nail art posts, but at least one per month for the Friday Triad. This is the last one of this year and I got to pick the manicure that Michelle, Juanita and myself would use as inspiration for our own nails. I picked a very season inappropriate pumpkin manicure by Melissa aka @melcisme. I did this on purpose because I didn't know when the other ladies would wear their manicures so maybe they didn't want to go for Winter (as it's Summer on the Southern hemisphere) or the holidays at all. This way everyone could do what she liked. Also, it doesn't need a horribly complicated technique which is a huge pro in the busiest month of the year.

I myself decided to go all-out Christmas, complete with red, white, green and gold:

It's that time again, the end of the month approaches and here is the post I never skip... the Triad manicure, where Juanita, Michelle and I take turns in picking a manicure from our to-do list and we all use that manicure as inspiration to do our own nail art. This month Juanita picked a lovely gradient-and-then-some by Courtney aka thenailartbabe. I was very tempted to do an exact recreation as I really love how it looks but in the end I decided to run wild with it and this is the end result:

  • Hi everyone!

It's the last Friday of the month again, so that means Triad time! The inspiration of this month was picked by me and I had a really hard time deciding. In the end I went for a manicure that actually I saw popping up in my feed and immediately saved, this pretty dry marble/smoosh by Anastasiya of @nail_muse.

I especially loved the horizontal lines so I knew I wanted to try and get those too and boy, did I set myself up for trouble... but I think I did sort of okay. I'll let you be the judge:

  • Hi everyone!

I had a business event earlier this week and I needed a bit of a confidence booster, so I grabbed a brand new, fierce red polish and got to work. This is what was on my nails afterwards:

  • Hi everyone!

A quick post today as I'm already halfway out the door to the next appointment... and this is what I'll be walking out the door with:

  • Yesterday was a sad day for my family and me as we had to say a final farewell to my cousin.
His motto was: live your best life.
    This one's for him.

  • Hi everyone!

The prompt for week 22 was Favourite Superhero. Right... superhero... and favourite on top of that!
I've never had a thing for Superman, Iron Man, Captain America or any other guy or girl in a spandex suit who zips across the screen, rescuing the world at the last moment. It's not that I hate them, they're just not my cup-of-tea so I don't go to the cinema to watch the movies, I don't buy the comics, etc., which means I don't have a favourite superhero either.

So I turned to Google to see if any superhero would spark an idea. The only one that seemed interesting was Natasha Romanov aka the Black Widow, probably because I like the combination of black (suit), red (hair) and gold (belt). This is what my superhero manicure looks like (idea definitely stolen from, borrowed from, inspired by Michelle):

  • Hi everyone!

YES! It may be almost week 16 but I'm writing this post in week 15 so that means I'm all caught up :)

This week's prompt is Black + Red so I immediately thought 'lace' and set out to pick a red polish. I stumbled across a beautiful classic, cool-toned red and all thoughts of lace left my brain. This polish was just too pretty to hide under a stamp! As this is a nail ART challenge, I figured I couldn't get away with just ten red nails without any decoration (and there was the tiny detail of Black as well ;) so I decided to do the simplest of nail art and leave the red as the glorious eye catcher. May I present my Black + Red themed manicure?

  • Hi everyone!

This week's prompt is plaid and the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of plaid is the blanket my parents used when I was a little girl: soft and fuzzy and with large squares of color. My manicure is an attempt to translate my memory into nail polish. The only thing different is the sparkly accent that wasn't in the original blanket, but I felt my nails needed a little extra ;)

  • Hi everyone!

At just about the latest possible moment I've managed to carve out a few moments for a quick post to show the manicure I did for the seventh prompt of the 52 Week Nail Art Challenge: Valentine's Day. I actually wore this manicure during the lovely dinner my husband treated me to but again, as usual since I started this new assignment at work, I haven't had the time to write a post. But since pictures are patient, these were waiting on my camera for me to crop them and show them off :)

As you can see no pinks for me but there are hearts and roses (well, one rose) and my Valentine really liked them which was good enough for me!

  • Hi everyone!

I guess 2017 wasn't quite happy with the speed it was zooming towards the end, so it decided to step on the pedal and went into overdrive. Oh, alright, so December is always extremely busy for my family as there are no less than 5 birthdays that can't be skipped, a children's holiday that loving aunts and uncles are supposed to attend as well, and of course Christmas with all its preparations and last but not least New Year (although technically that's in January but of course everything for the party has to be done in December). Throw in a computer that decides it can't keep up with the pace so it simply shuts down and some last minutes rush jobs at work and you can picture my life for the last three weeks. But I'm not complaining though, because I love this time of year, craziness included :) Anyway, at the moment four birthdays (including my own ;) are in the past, all the shopping and planning etc. for Christmas is done, my computer is completely reinstalled and running faster than ever and I even managed to catch up on reading blogs so I decided to show you what has been on my nails these last weeks (and I hope to do a second post with a really special manicure after this one, no promises though!)
