• Untrieds for fall

    Hi everyone!

I was totally stumped for the letter U. I thought of unicorns and uniform and understated but nothing inspired me to even start looking for colors, let alone do a complete manicure. All I could think of were fall colors, especially deep reds... Fortunately I have this wonderful person in my life who usually comes up with the weirdest ideas but has his moments of genius and this weekend one of those moments happened. He asked me why I didn't do a manicure with all untried polishes... Why didn't I think of that?! I had already seen a gorgeous fall manicure that was on my want-to-recreate list so I decided to brave Mount Untried and find colors for my version of it... and this is what my nails look like at the moment:

    indoors, no flash

I found the dark red, the orange and the gold but I didn't have a pale pink that I hadn't used yet... so I ran to the drugstore that is about 5 minutes from my house (for the dutchies, you probably guessed it, Kruidvat) and searched the Catrice display... no pale pinks that I liked :( But on my way out my eye fell on a dirty bottle in the clearance bin and when I took a better look it turned out a lovely pale pink that wasn't part of my stash yet. A large part of the cap was covered in yucky green polish that leaked from another bottle but hey, I'm not complaining for 50 cents and a little acetone goes a long way as you can see in the bottle shot... just keep reading and you'll get there ;)

So with all the chosen polishes on my desk and the stamping plate cleaned and waiting, I started out by painting my thumb, index and pinky with two thin coats of OPI We the Female, a lovely dark red with a little brown in it that is a dream to apply and one coat of Seche Vite to make it dry faster.

I painted my middle and ring finger with two medium coats of Catrice 97 Love Affair in Bel Air, a pretty pale pink but (unfortunately) a jelly. If I look at my nails closely I can still see a little VNL but I have to look really really really close up so I don't think anyone else (in the "normal" world ;) would be able to see it... but still, I know it's there so next time Love Affair gets undies!

I put little dots of OPI We the Female, Hit The Bottle Rusty Nail and Hit The Bottle To Have and to Gold on the image I wanted to stamp from Born Pretty BP-19. I scraped twice to blend the colors a bit and stamped the leaves on my nails. A coat of Seche Vite to seal everything and voila... fall colors AND my entry for the ABC Challenge :)

Oh, and I promised you a bottle shot... here it is. As you can see Love Affair is all clean now.

I am so happy with my fall colored nails! I love that the pink makes it just a little girly while the dark red makes sure it's still suitable for grown ups too and I can even overlook the VNL (that probably no one can see but me) just because I love my manicure so much ;)

What do you think? Do you like my fall manicure as much as I do? And was Untrieds too easy or maybe even cheating? ;)

These are the other U themed manicures:

Hit The Bottle Rusty Nail and Hit The Bottle To Have and to Gold were bought from Hypnotic Polish.
