• Friday Triad: inspired by @kt_tk1

    Hi everyone!

April is coming to an end and so another installment of the Friday Triad series is here for your reading pleasure. I know, it isn't Friday but unfortunately work interfered for one of us so we're a bit later than usual.

This time Juanita picked a lovely manicure by Kathy from @kt_tk1, and here's what I did with that inspiration:

I immediately knew I wanted to change the color scheme but keep the stamp-on-a-sheer-base. I settled on teal and picked two matching Zoya polishes: textured Bay and creme Talia.

I started by painting my thumb, index and pinky with two coats of Talia, which is almost a one-coater and yes, you can stamp with her, I tried 😊 My ring finger was done in two coats and some dabbing of Bay, and wow... it is gorgeous! There are lots of silver and gold sparkles hidden in the teal and mint glitters so it looks like a sparkling sea on your nails.

Next... my middle finger! In version 1.0 of this manicure, I had used just OPI Funny Bunny but the result was almost pale yellow and I didn't like it very much (understatement 😉). So I tried different polishes and varying amounts of coats, but it wasn't until I remembered purple can cancel yellow (and my nails are fairly discolored at the moment) that I finally managed to reach what I had in mind. So what you see in the picture is three coats of Catrice Luminous Nails 40 Parfait Violet, a slightly purple tinted base coat, and one coat of OPI Funny Bunny.

After the base was the way I liked it, all I had to do was stamp a beautiful mandala-like image from UberChic Radiate Love using Painted Polish Blanc Slate, and cover all nails but my ring finger with a coat of Seche Vite.

    The polishes I used:

Zoya Talia, Zoya Bay, Catrice Luminous Nails 40 Parfait Violet, OPI Funny Bunny, Painted Polish Blanc Slate

I'm very glad I kept fiddling with this manicure until I was happy with all nails, not just because I like the result (which I do, very much) but also because I'm definitely going to use the trick of a purple tinted base coat next time I want to use a sheer polish. What do you think, did I do the original some justice?

Of course Juanita and Michelle did their own nails inspired by the same manicure. If you click their name, you can see their manicures :)

    1. I just looooooove the zoya shades you used. I knew I wanted to change up the colours but I couldn't decide on what and now I wish I had gone the teal / green route. It looks amazing!

      1. Thanks, but your pinks are nothing to look down on! I would have gone for something similar if my eye wasn't caught by that teal 😉
