• Friday Triad: inspired by PolishPixie92

    Hi everyone!

It's the last Friday of the month again, so Michelle, Juanita and me get to cross off another manicure from our to-do lists with our monthly Triad manicure. This month's inspiration was created by Emilia from PolishPixie92 and chosen by Michelle who said she wanted a stress-free, pretty design. Pretty? Definitely! Stress-free? Not entirely... but I'll get to that part later ;)

First let me show you the end result:

I really liked the color scheme so I decided to stick with sort of the same colors: dark purple as a base and multi color stamping with coral, blue and cream. I think I pulled out just about all the polishes I have in those colors to find a winning combination but each time one of the polishes didn't want to play nice: the coral was too overpowering, the cream was too sheer, the blue clashed with the purple, the list went on and on and on until I was ready to give up on the entire multi color thing. That is, until I came across my chrome polishes. I don't have a cream colored chrome but I figured silver might be a good substitute... and I think it is :)

So, what did I do to make this look?
I started by painting all my nails with two not-too-thin coats of a-england Elaine, a dark purple with a great formula. When that had dried, I used KIKO 624 Sky Blue, KIKO 629 Copper and silver essie No Place Like Chrome to stamp a floral image from MoYou Flower Power 06 on my middle and ring finger and I finished with a generous coat of Seche Vite.

I was wondering what my nails would look like when matted, as I usually like matted chromes. So I whipped out my OPI Matte Top Coat and painted a coat on top of everything (nails that is, I didn't mattify my desk ;) after which I ran over to my husband and shoved my fingers in his face while squeaking: look! Look! LOOK!! Yep, you could say I liked it... a lot ;)

    The line-up:

As much as I liked the glossy version of my manicure, I was completely wow-ed with the matte version. There is something about matte chromes that is simply irresistible! And while I don't always like matte creme polishes, Elaine look pretty with or without a glossy finish, so I'll be wearing this for a while :) Which version do you prefer?

Are you also wondering what Michelle and Juanita have created? I usually expect them to go for bright and happy colors but they've been surprising me the last few times. On the other hand, summer over there is over... so maybe they went for rich, dark fall colors this time. Just click their names and you'll find out!

a-england Elaine was bought from Pretty Polish.

    2. I almost said a sweary word. HOLY SMOKES this is beautiful. Firstly, I actually thought the stamping was cream until you said you used silver. I LOVE the colours you chose together and that base is just ridiculous!! I can't even decide if I prefer the matte version or the glossy version. Dang you are just rocking this!!! I love it so much!
