• Quick red, white and copper skittle

    Hi everyone!

I had such high hopes. I was going to spend an entire evening playing with polish and come up with the most amazing design! And then... my sister in law called that my two nieces had a ballet recital and grandma had gotten sick and grandpa was going to stay home to take care of her, so there were two empty seats and two very sad girls. So I had to choose: stay inside all nice and warm and cozy with yummy snacks and nail polish or go outside into the cold, the rain, the hail, to a theatre to see a bunch of little girls jump up and down and twirl as if their life depended on it...

So of course I went to the ballet recital (you must have guessed that already) and instead of taking all the time in the world to create a dazzling design I picked three colors that looked nice together, grabbed a dotting tool and did my nails in the ten minutes that I had left after getting ready for the evening with this result:

    indoors, no flash

My thumb, index and pinky were done in Cirque Colors Rouge Rockefeller, a beautiful blood red creme/jelly with an ultra glossy finish that is somewhat of a chameleon. In certain light it looks quite dark, like in my picture and it can look even darker. Under different light it seems to glow from within and it looks like the rich color you get to see when you prick your finger while trying to get a button sewn back on the shirt it came off from (if you seem to detect just a smidge of frustration with the supposedly feminine pastimes... you're absolutely right ;) It took three thin coats to get a completely opaque result but it dries really fast and the color is more than worth doing the three coats.

Next I painted my middle finger with three thin coats of OPI Alpine Snow and my ring finger received two coats of Il était un vernis Lunaria, a gorgeous coppery gold with a very fine, scattered holographic finish. I applied a coat of Seche Vite on my middle finger to shorten the dry time and using a dotting tool and Rouge Rockefeller and Lunaria I made the dots. One last coat of Seche Vite and done!

    The polishes I used:
Cirque Colors Rouge Rockefeller, Il était un vernis Lunaria, OPI Alpine Snow

Initially I had a more yellow gold in mind but I'm glad I chose Lunaria. It is beautiful and I love how it looks very luxurious with the dark red. I've tried to take pictures of it using flash and even my mobile to show Lunaria's sparkles and the glowy brighter side of Rouge Rockefeller but I guess it was just not meant to be and you just have to believe me when I say both polishes are absolutely brilliant.

About the recital: the girls were very happy to see us (my husband came along as well, even though he had to leave StarCraft II and Fallout 4 behind) and they had a great time performing on stage. It was a lot of fun to watch and their happy faces were totally worth sacrificing my manicure time and hubby's game time for :)

Wishing you all a great week!

Cirque Colors Rouge Rockefeller was bought from Pretty Polish.
Il était un vernis Lunaria was bought from The Nailista Shop.

      1. Yup, it was definitely a sacrifice but those two little blondies can wrap him around their pinkies in no time. I'm considering taking lessons from them ;)
